Instead of Valentine's Day they celebrate for a week in July. They call this Sweetness Week. They still exchange candies, kisses, and other gifts. February 14th in Bulgaria is called Trifon Zarezan or winemakers day. This day is honoring the saint of winemakers Saint Trifon. They celebrate by having a few glasses of wine. More commonly referred to as the Day of Love and Friendship and much less romantic. Friends will give each other gifts. Some citizens will participate in a parade. These countries celebrate the day in a variety of ways. Some home made cards will have white flowers pressed on called snowdrops. Others will make a more traditional card representing their love. A few men will give a gaekkebrev. A gaekkebrev is an anonymous joking card with a funny poem or rhyme. If the person can guess who sent it she earns a easter egg from the sender later in the year.
